Michael, USA What’s not to like? Luis and his entire family treated us like we were one of their own. This is not a hotel. It’s a second home. We spent a lot of time getting to know all of them. Our trip was very relaxing and enjoyable. This is a very clean place and accessible from Bocas Town by a short boat trip ($3 per person or so). Since there were six of us, we were able to sample a number of items from the menu. We had fresh tuna, burgers, tacos and a number of side dishes, including delicious patacones! We wanted a place away from super crazy party of Bocas, with AC, private, clean rooms. We got that and a family run place full of love and smiles and dancing. It’s a family run B and B, and it was wonderful to see the whole family helping out. The view is absolutely amazing, and the room itself is clean and sizeable. Food here was delicious! Medical centers, hospitals and clinics in the Bocas Del Toro area are, in a word, scarce. Services are limited with few English-speaking doctors and even fewer English-speaking nurses. The only hospital on Isla Colon is a national hospital. It can be a good place to go for minor injuries or situations. There is a larger health facility in a city called Changuinola, which is, at best, one hour and forty-five minutes away. But this is also a national healthcare facility. The closest private hospital is located in the city of David, which is a four hour drive through the mountains. Or you could be airlifted off the island for a hefty price. In a crucial situation, where minutes count, the hospitals in Bocas del Toro province offer bleak alternatives. Police stations are present both: on the main island (Isla Colon) and on the Isla Bastimentos. Police officers can be seen along most frequently visited beaches in Bocas del Toro.
